How to Buy the Right Bra Size
The brassiere or bra can easily be called the most important garment in any woman’s wardrobe. Without the proper bra, even the perfect outfit will sit poorly on any female body. In spite of the importance of the bra, however, the sad part is that more than 80% women do not wear the right bra size, which not only affects how they look, but also has an adverse impact on health and comfort.
Not wearing the right bra size will affect your breast tissues, hamper your posture, cause back problems, and create discomfort and breast health problems. So the next time you buy a bra, make sure you know your proper bra size.
To measure your bra and cup size, follow the steps given below:
1. Wear a bra that is not padded.
2. Next, take a tape measure and measure your rib cage right where your busts end. This would be the place where the bra strap falls. Call this measurement X. Add 5 inches if X is odd and 4 inches if X is even. The figure that you now get is your band size, which we will denote by BS.
3. To measure your cup size, measure your bust around the fullest part. Keep the measuring tape straight and tight. Now subtract this measurement from your band size measurement. The difference between the two will give you your cup size.
4. If the difference between the two is less than an inch, your cup size is AA. For 1 inch, it is A; for 2 inches, it is B; for 3 inches, it is C and for 4 inches, it is D. You can refer to the table below for determining your cup size, which we will denote by CS.
Lesser than 1 inch–AA
1 inch –A
2 inches –B
3 inches –C
4 inches –D
5 inches –DD (E)
6 inches –DDD (F)
7 inches–DDDD (G)
5. When you buy a bra, then your size will be a combination of the band size and the cup size. For example, if BS=34 and CS=B, then your correct bra size will be 34B.
