No Pants Subway Ride 2010
On Sunday the 10th January, we met in Berlin and many other cities around the world. We were driving without pants or skirts in the subway to the “No Pants Subway Ride celebrate”. This year, took part more than 40 cities worldwide in this unusual event. In Berlin, it was the first “No Pants Subway Ride”.
In Berlin has called the blog Spreeblick to participate in that event. We had subzero temperatures when the volunteers have taken the afternoon to meet at Eberswaler station. The conditions of participation were simple and yet not, because who is serious when you are in your underwear in the subway? I had my problems to stay seroiusly.
The aim was to go without trousers into the subway, so that the underwear was visible. We should be serious and intent to prove to passengers that what we do is normal. The willingness to take off our trousers was important! We should do so, as if we know any of the other participants. The participants were encouraged to have a valid ticket there.
This action lives from the participation! We should give final commitment of participation on Facebook. But it’s not just about stripping, but the contrast of clothing and lack of clothing. We should dress accordingly, we should wear scarf, coat, hat and gloves, just normal winter clothing, we would wear elsewhere.
There was a detailed plan to drive as the participants in groups through Berlin. At various junctions and crosses more participants joined. Reactions have also provided the organizers and those who would consider it possible that in such an action nobody would react? Anyone who has been asked should simply say that the pants scratch, you’ve forgotten it or it was just too warm.
Whether it makes sense or not, it was to brings a lot of attention to be in winter in your underwear in the subway. But it also shows the opposite, what underwear wear people. This is perhaps no important information, but certainly interesting for the little voyeur in me. I’ve been, because I was curious about my own reactions and those of others. I must admit it was amazing.
The action has been documented on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. The aim was to improvise, have fun and do something crazy too. In New York, the “No Pants Subway Ride” is celebrated for nine years now and every year more people join.
