Valentine’s Day
On Sunday the 14th February, it’s that time again it’s Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is in many countries the day for lovers. There are various theories how the holiday developed, a fact is that all religions and religious customs have made an evolution and there are quite a few overlaps. That is also the case of Valentine’s Day.
The day and the legend goes back to, for example, the Bishop Valentine of Terni, who because of his Christian faith and rebellion against the Roman emperor – he has married lovers despite a ban – was punished with decapitation on a February 14th. On February 14th is also celebrated in some churches, the arrival of Jesus as the heavenly bridegroom to the heavenly wedding.
Flowers are a gift that was made long before the Valentine’s Day to women as a sign of affection. Skilled florists converted the day into their day. Well, that may sound a little biter, but it’s true on any other day of the year florists sell so many roses and flowers as they do on Valentine’s Day. Lingerie for Valentine’s Day, as some will say is worn and uninspired. But to be honest I don’t think so. What might be more personal than underwear?
